Offline CBT software for Nigerian and West African schools
One computer in the school becomes the exam server. Every computer in the lab opens it in a browser over the school Wi-Fi or network cable. Nothing leaves the building.
What you need
- Server PC
- Any Windows desktop or laptop with 4 GB RAM or more. It doesn't need to be new.
- Network
- A Wi-Fi router or network switch that the lab computers connect to. No internet subscription needed.
- Student computers
- Any computer or tablet with Chrome, Edge or Firefox. Nothing to install.
- Power
- A UPS for the server PC is a good idea. If a student's computer goes off, their answers are already safe on the server.
How setup works
-
1
We send you the software and a licence key
Or we install it with you over a call.
-
2
Install XAMPP and copy Egold CBT onto the server PC
Start Apache and MySQL, then open the setup page.
-
3
Enter your school name, an admin account and the licence key
The licence activates over the internet once.
-
4
Open it on the lab computers
Type the server's network address in the browser, e.g. http://192.168.0.10/egold-cbt.
About the licence
- Your server checks the licence every few hours when it can reach the internet, and keeps working offline between checks for the number of days in your licence.
- Changing PCs? Remove the licence from the old server in Settings, or ask us to free the slot, then activate on the new one.
- Your exams, questions and results stay on your server. The licence check sends only the key, a server ID and your school name.
