Use case
CA tests and terminal exams on computers, marked before the bell
Most of a school's marking load comes from routine assessment: continuous assessment (CA) tests every few weeks and an exam at the end of each term. Egold CBT lets subject teachers set these once, reuse questions across classes and terms, and get objective scripts marked the moment students submit.
Sound familiar?
-
Teachers spend evenings marking objective scripts by hand, then copying scores into a broadsheet.
-
The same questions are retyped every term because last year's paper only exists on paper or in one teacher's laptop.
-
Students sitting close together in the lab can see each other's screens.
How it works
-
1
Build a question bank per subject
Import last term's paper from Word, add new questions, and tag them by topic and difficulty. The bank stays with the school when teachers change.
-
2
Publish the test to a class
Pick questions, set the duration and the class (JSS 1 to SS 3, or Primary 1 to 6). Each student gets the questions and options in a different order.
-
3
Invigilate from one screen
See who is writing, how far they are and who left the exam window. Add time for a student whose computer restarted.
Live invigilation: five students writing, with progress, time left and warnings -

Release results
Objective answers are marked instantly; theory answers wait in the teacher's marking queue. Export scores to Excel for the broadsheet or print a results sheet.

What helps most
- Reuse every term
- Banks keep questions for next year; shuffle order so a reused paper is not a copy.
- Mixed question types
- Combine multiple choice with matching, number answers and theory in one paper.
- Grades A1 to F9
- Percentages, positions and WAEC-style grade bands for every exam.
- Re-mark in one click
- Fix a wrong answer key and every script is re-marked.

Questions about ca tests & terminal exams
Can different classes write the same test at different times?
Yes. Publish the exam to each class when it is their turn. The questions come from the same bank, and each attempt is timed separately on the server.
Can we combine objective and theory sections?
Yes. Put both in one exam. Objective questions are marked automatically and theory answers go to the teacher, so the final score updates once marking is done.
What if the lab has fewer computers than students?
Run the class in batches. Publish the exam, let the first group write, then the next group signs in. Answer order is shuffled for each student.
Other ways schools use it
